I'm a Dutch creative writer who's only just abandoned his ridiculous ambitions in English. Having lived and worked in the UK for more than a decade and a half, I began imagining myself a great future novelist in my new language. When writing creatively, I'm working on a few short stories (in het Nederlands tegenwoordig!) or on what I'm hoping will someday be my first novel but that doesn't happen much yet beyond what's happening in my crazy mind which is actually mostly busying itself with my ArtworksPortfolio (ik heb zojuist een Nederlandstalige ArtworksPortfolio afgemaakt!).

I translated some of my early Dutch short stories, including the three 'Hollands Maandblad' publications (!) of the 1990s, re-writing the first one of those a little:

The Crying Plant, orignally Wachtkamer (Waiting Room) published 1995 and again in 1996
We Have No Neighbours Anymore (published in Dutch in August 1996)
Museum Visit (Everybody Is Dead) (published in the Hollands Maanblad in March 1999)

I'd be most (very!) happy to take anything from this website in favour of it being published somewhere seriously (email anton@verstraete.co.uk). Here's some more writing I did in the past and here's what's happening now.
